Minimally Invasive Surgery
IHK was the pioneer hospital in Uganda with laparoscopic surgery and has a dedicated theatre for endoscopic procedures. IHK uses high end Karl-Storz equipment for laparoscopic procedures like laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, stent placement as well as diagnostic and gynaecological laparoscopy.
IHK works with a team of 5 highly skilled orthopaedic surgeons including trauma and spinal surgeons. Clinics run 5 days a week at the hospital and specialists are seen on appointment. Orthopaedic surgeries are backed up by a dedicated operation theatre with a C-arm and procedures performed include: Trauma surgery, joint (knee and hip) replacements, spinal surgery, and arthroscopic surgery among others.
IHK is equipped with state of the art operating facilities (including an operating microscope) to support complex neurosurgery operations supported by advanced neurosurgical diagnostics including a 40-slice Phillips Brilliance CT scan with automatic injector. A team of highly trained and qualified neurosurgeons provide neurosurgical cover and 3 neurosurgical clinics run every week in the dedicated Specialists Centre.
Other surgical specialities include Otorhinolaryngology (ENT); Neurosurgery; Cardiothoracic surgery; Urology (including endoscopic urology); plastic and reconstructive surgery and Paediatric surgery.
